Michael founded AccountabilityNet in 1996. The practice has grown tremendously over the years, yet retains the personal, approachable character which is the cornerstone of the business.
Entrepreneurially minded, Michael understands the joys and frustrations of business ownership well and is a staunch advocate for small business in New Zealand.
He holds a Business Degree majoring in Accounting and is proud to act as a mentor to young entrepreneurs in the community.
Outside of work Michael is an enthusiastic coach of his teenage son’s rugby team, Breakers fan and keen sailor.

Shigang Ma is an extraordinary man of high intelligence. Originally qualified as a medical doctor in China, Shigang retrained as an Accountant in New Zealand, graduating with a Bachelor of Business degree in 2001. Fluent in English and Mandarin, Shigang's wealth of knowledge, and thorough understanding of the issues clients face means he relishes solving problems and finding practical solutions to all sorts of business and tax related issues.
Shigang is our resident guru of accounting systems, particularly knowledgeable with Xero, Banklink, MYOB, as well as anything “techie”.
Outside of work, Shigang enjoys the spending time with his wife and two young children and the wonderful lifestyle that living in NZ offers.

Patsy is a highly valued partner both in business and life to Michael. Her wealth of customer services and business development experience is reflected in AccountabilityNet's extraordinary growth over recent years.
Patsy has held a senior management roles in other service industries, and she truly understands the importance of clear client communication and support. Her networking skills are legendary and she partakes in a number of business networking groups to not only grow AccountabilityNet, but to also support the local business community about which she is passionate.
The mother of two energetic teenage boys, Patsy is a talented marathoner and keen gardener.

Stephen has more than 21 years commercial experience, the majority of which was was gained with PWC, Ernst & Young and government tax investigation authorities. He is also an experienced public speaker, speaking on areas of taxation and trusts. He is committed to being a trusted advisor, as evidenced by our clients having him as an independent trustees on their trusts. This speaks volumes about the faith people have in him as a person and his experience.
Stephen has experience advising local New Zealand-based entities and multi-national groups on a wide range of matters, including asset structuring and taxation matters. He has considerable experience in dealing with the Inland Revenue Department and Australian State and Territory revenue authorities, including negotiating various tax matters.
As a trusted advisor, Stephen works towards collaborating with clients in this ever-changing world. His relationships with clients are important to alleviate their stress and navigate the way forward to achieve their goals.
Stephen practises as a Certified Practising Accountant, and although he has been enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, and as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia, he is not currently practising as a solicitor.

IRD matters, including investigations and tax relief;
Employment relationship matters; and
Various contract matters.
When Stephen is not working he loves spending time with this wife and 5 children. They are keen bushwalkers.
